The difference between classic and modern bodybuilding is the level of competition. To be a successful bodybuilder today, you need to take advantage of every option, including hormonal nutritional supplements, steroids and diuretics. Sometimes excessive use of these drugs leads to serious consequences (including death). Today we will talk about bodybuilders who went too far in their attempt to create the perfect body.

Bodybuilding has a rich history and is very popular nowadays. But what do we know about famous bodybuilders? For example, Oli Cooney - the tragic story of this bodybuilder, although not included in our list, is worthy of mention. Having started training at the age of 16, he openly took steroids and, despite the warnings of doctors, continued training and... died at the age of 20. If the doctors' warnings weren't enough, two heart attacks and three strokes should have slowed down the intensity of my training! But no, they didn’t reduce it. Michalik was a fan of intense training. The intensity was literally there from the moment he was born as his second self. Life hardened him from childhood: he endured bullying from his parents, and a little later became a bomber pilot. It was natural for him to come from here to bodybuilding. In 1972, Steve Michalik won the title of Mr. America. And three years later, another one - Mr. Universe. These victories came at a high price. Due to excessive use of steroids, his liver was completely destroyed, he suffered heart attacks, kidney disease, and ultimately died at age 63. It's time to discover the shocking stories of bodybuilders who went too far. Even if these are exceptions to the rules, it is very useful for novice athletes to know about them. We have stories here about death, about murder and... about exploding biceps. Yes, you read that right – exploding biceps! So, 15 bodybuilders who overdid it...

Gordon Kimbrough

Gordon Kimbrough's story is not a happy, motivational tale that will inspire you to achieve bodybuilding feats. Quite the opposite. Kimbrough was a fragile, some would say, shy boy from San Francisco who was kind to others and dearly loved by his family. He started bodybuilding and everything was fine until he started using anabolic steroids. Kimbrough pumped up growth hormones to aid his bodybuilding process, hoping to make his muscle mass huge and defined. The hormones had a negative impact on his personality, they completely changed Kimbrough's nature: he turned from a quiet person into a furious machine. Things came to a head in 1993 when he stabbed his fiancée to death because he thought she was cheating on him. Kimbrough was detained by police the day after the murder. He was caught trying to commit suicide by injecting Lysol into a vein in his neck. Do you know what this is? Lysol is a solution of purified phenols (phenols, cresols, xylenols) in potassium soap (banned by WHO as a biological poison).

Some of the Best Exercises for Natural Bodybuilding

Let's take a closer look at the basic bodybuilding exercises for a natural athlete.

Squats

A key and basic exercise for increasing overall muscle mass and strength in bodybuilding. The athlete approaches the holder and places the barbell on the deltoids. Then he begins to squat so that his knees do not go beyond his toes, and his legs are parallel to the floor. Otherwise, you may simply not get up. In heavy working sets, 6 to 10 repetitions are performed.

Classic pull-ups

The best exercise for the back muscles. The athlete jumps and begins to pull himself up. Pull-ups are the best and most comfortable choice for straight men. You should work within the amplitude so that the muscles are under tension all the time.

Bench press

Presses can be different. They are usually performed with dumbbells or a barbell. These exercises are multi-joint, since in addition to the shoulder joint, this also includes the elbow joint. The most effective is considered to be an incline press, about 30 degrees. You need to work strictly within the amplitude to maintain constant voltage. In addition, all muscle sectors are evenly loaded here.

Dumbbell Pull

This exercise will allow you to:

  • turn off the front delta (since it is loaded in many exercises);
  • effectively pump the middle delta;
  • optimally load the rear delta;
  • significantly increase shoulder width.

While performing the exercise, the athlete holds dumbbells, moving his elbows to the side and raising his arms. The correct technique will help improve the appearance of the so-called “presentable parts”.

Close grip bench press

natural bodybuilding exercises
Ideal for improving triceps. The principle is the same as when performing approaches to the chest. It is worth focusing on the elbow joints, not the shoulder joints, otherwise the exercise will become ineffective.

Gregg Valentino

Huge biceps are the dream of many; this is what brings novice bodybuilders to the gym. Arnold Schwarzenegger's biceps during active training are 54–57 centimeters. Dorian Yates' biceps are 54 centimeters. And although many (including Stuart McRobert, the author of the mass-building method) believe that these measurements are fake and that bodybuilders themselves inflate them in the pursuit of fame, 50-centimeter arms are, without exaggeration, the main fetish of bodybuilding. American muscleman Greg Valentino went further and made his arms 69 centimeters! He looks like a bloated Hulk, and "bodybuilding victim" is clearly about him. He started lifting in the early 1980s, and his arms were fine - 47 centimeters, according to his own words. But in the 1990s, Valentino discovered the drug “Sintov” - an oil that is injected into the muscle. The oil remains between the bundles of muscle fibers, and this makes the muscle appear larger. The predecessor drug "Synthol" called "Esiklen" was known to bodybuilders already in the early 1980s, but "Esiklen" inside the body disintegrated very quickly, and within a day the muscle again took on its normal appearance. And in 1992, Synthol appeared - after injections, the muscle remained swollen for three to five, and sometimes more, years. The more injections, the greater the muscle volume. The course, which allows you to grow 70-centimeter arms, includes about 200 injections into each biceps. At one point, Valentino boasted that he had the biggest hands in the world. But already in the early 2000s, he had to see doctors: he began to experience severe pain, and his arms stopped bending. This is not surprising; long-term injection of oil into the biceps had a negative effect. For Valentino, it meant that his hands began to “flow”, and then Valentino decides to take care of his problem and begins to “dry” his hands. And then his biceps exploded! ...The doctors suggested an operation to pump out the oil from the biceps. Valentino initially refused, but the pain became worse. Today Valentino's hands are a network of ugly scars. He is credited with the phrase: “Bodybuilding is a demon that destroys lives.”

How to progress with natural training?

The athlete holds the barbell on his shouldersNatural bodybuilding in practice is a real art.
To progress, many factors must be taken into account. First of all, these are competent exercise and nutrition programs, as well as sufficient time for rest. We have already said that many natural athletes remain dissatisfied with the speed of their progress, and this is especially true at a time when their results are approaching the genetic limit. We already know how to distinguish a chemist from a natural in the gym, let's also understand the basics of proper training without the use of sports pharmacology. If in professional sports it is impossible to count on high results without the use of these drugs, then this is absolutely not necessary for amateurs.

Progression of loads

One of the basic principles of muscle growth is progression of loads. Very often, it is failure to follow this rule that leads to a lack of progress among builders. The fact is that for a straight person this is, in fact, the only way to create sufficient stress for the body. You probably know that the body responds to physical activity by releasing anabolic hormones.

The stronger the stress, the greater the amount of hormonal substances will be synthesized. If “chemists” solve the problem of low testosterone concentration by introducing an exogenous substance, then naturals need to train intensively for this. If the load does not change over time, then the body adapts and no longer produces testosterone in large quantities.

However, the increase in load should be systematic and a sharp increase should not be allowed. To control this process, you need to keep a training diary. The load can be increased not only with the help of working scales. To solve this problem, you can manipulate the number of sets and repetitions. Agree that it is physically impossible to remember all these numbers.

How to overcome genetic limits?

Beginning athletes, with a properly organized training process, progress quite quickly. However, the rate of growth in sports performance is gradually slowing down. As we said above, the closer you get to your genetic limit, the harder it is to gain weight. Steroids help solve this problem.

But the question arises, how can a straight person do this? There is essentially only one way out - using basic movements. If you actively work on simulators, you will not get much benefit. The thing is that when performing basic movements, a large number of muscles are involved in the work. This causes the body's hormonal response to training to be stronger.

Also an important factor for a straight person is the duration of classes. However, you need to be extremely careful, because excessive loads will lead to overtraining. The gonads are capable of synthesizing only a certain amount of hormonal substances per unit of time. If the exercises are very long, the body will not be able to cope with such a load. We recommend training for 40 minutes or a maximum of an hour. This is an individual indicator, but for many bodybuilders, working actively for 45 minutes is enough.

Natural people need to take a responsible approach to physical activity. For example, if in addition to bodybuilding you are involved in swimming or running, then your body may not be able to withstand such stress. This is precisely why the advice of experienced trainers is connected: during the period of mass gain, do not actively use cardio exercises. Don't forget about psychological stress, which can also negatively impact your progress. Of course, it is impossible to completely avoid stressful situations, but try to minimize them.

Periodization

Another way to continuously progress in natural training conditions is periodization. As mentioned above, the rate of production of anabolic hormonal substances can only increase to a certain level. Actually, this is your genetic ceiling. To overcome it, it is necessary to create a situation in which relatively low stress will lead to the release of the required amount of hormones.

This can be achieved by detraining the muscles, or, more simply, you must make them weaker. As a result, the body will perceive even mild stress as severe. As a result, you will be able to return to your previous working weights and exceed them. This alternation of loads is called periodization.

There are many ways to achieve this goal. We recommend that you understand the essence of the methodology itself, after which you will have the opportunity to use periodization. This principle can be compared to a wave. For constant progress, you must move towards your goal not evenly, but in waves - a step back is replaced by two forwards.

Periodization can be used over different time periods. When you have a hard activity replaced by an easy one, then this is microperiodization. However, you can work in light mode for a week or even a month, and then increase the load. This will be macroperiodization. These two methods are the main ones, but there are also many others. They combine macro- and microperiodization.

Note that the principle of periodization is used in all sports disciplines, and you can be sure of its effectiveness. Another thing is that the implementation of this technique does not always bring positive results. It should be noted right away that for naturals, the scheme used in weightlifting or powerlifting can bring the best results. You can divide your workouts into two or three types - easy, hard and medium. After this, you begin to alternate them when working on each muscle group.

For example, today you performed heavy squats with a maximum weight to failure, completing 6 to 8 repetitions. In the next session, reduce the weight by about a third, but do 10 repetitions. At the same time, during an easy lesson you should not work to failure. This is a common mistake athletes make and defeats the whole purpose of periodization.

Nutrition

A nutritional program is of great importance to a straight person. When compiling it, you need to proceed from the assigned tasks. When you are gaining weight, the energy value should be high, and during the drying period it must be reduced. Some athletes try to get rid of fat while gaining weight, which is basically impossible without the use of sports pharmacology. It is better to gain muscle mass with a small percentage of fat than to train for nothing.

The following video contains even more information on this topic:

Andreas Münzer

Bodybuilders are often accused of taking steroids and extreme diets, which impair the functioning of internal organs and cause early mortality. No other bodybuilder was as notorious for his early retirement as Andreas Münzer. Admiring Schwarzenegger's success, Münzer devoted himself to building lean muscle mass, practically devoid of fat. He differed from other bodybuilders in that he trained all year round. He did not allow himself to deviate from a strict low-carb diet, and almost constantly used steroids, supplementing this hellish mixture with diuretics in high dosages. Drug abuse led to serious damage to internal organs. Münzer suffered severe stomach pain for months, and in 1996 he was hospitalized. Surgery was required to stop the stomach bleeding, after which his liver and kidneys failed. The bodybuilder died at the age of only 31! An autopsy revealed that his liver was severely destroyed and his heart had doubled in size. A blood test revealed high levels of potassium and evidence of use of about 20 different steroids. He was nicknamed “the man without skin” and “the skinny man”, and he truly had the leanest figure in bodybuilding in the early 1990s. Münzer managed to show off on the covers of Flex and Muscle Magazines and appeared in sports nutrition advertisements. After his death, Munich newspapers were choked, listing the ailments to which bodybuilding led the athlete: a failed liver, dehydration, zero immunity. Sad result!

How to become a muscleman without much effort?

To become such a muscleman and pump up to such a level, you do not have to go to the gym all day long and train thoroughly. Some athletes use another option, which is easier and more effective. Thanks to the photos before and after steroids, you can immediately see how noticeable your results will be.

  • The amino acid taurine will allow you to reach great heights in the gym; without it, you will need to sit in the gym for years.

They begin to add various nutritional supplements to their food or use all sorts of drugs that significantly accelerate muscle growth in the body and quickly restore the body. These drugs can have bad effects on your body and internal organs in the future. Some athletes begin to use them at a level when the body is no longer developing and then they have to use these supplements to further develop their body.

How to become a muscleman without much effort?

People who have a normal body composition can easily tone up their body. But if you build muscle mass, it will be difficult for any athlete. Despite all their goals, jocks attract a lot of attention from others, as they stand out a lot. They are often hired to host sports shows. They are often photographed on the covers of magazines, both sports and other.

Often photos of pumped-up athletes are shown on various websites or in magazines to advertise their products. Photos of bodybuilders after steroids are becoming increasingly popular on the Internet . But here you should also take into account photos of bodybuilders without steroids . People need to see the beginning and the end result. Only then does the desire to buy them arise. And young athletes, looking at these photographs, want to become the same and begin to purchase these drugs. But before you jump to conclusions, think about it - do you need it!? After all, you can pay with your health. We are not imposing our point of view, we are simply saying that it is worth thinking about, because you can have a beautiful body without any additives or other drugs.

Ruben Arzu

We all have our favorite YouTube videos, don't we? Many people love to watch how bodybuilders fail the bench press over and over again. The most interesting thing is how the mind and even the muscles together try to force something in the body to do a certain job, but are absolutely unsuccessful. This is often directly related to their training intensity and anger caused by excessive steroid use. Unfortunately for Arzu, he didn't even try to take out his anger in the gym. How would you feel if you came home after a party and saw Arzoo completely naked standing on the lawn of your house? At the same time, the dude was furious - this whole huge mountain of muscles was in a state of extreme rage! This is exactly what happened to one Southern California couple in 2011. Azru attacked the head of the family, beat him and broke his jaw. The wife ran home to call the police, but Azrou grabbed her head and simply twisted the unfortunate woman’s neck, breaking the base of her skull. Both spouses, however, survived, and the steroid psycho was placed in a prison cell.

Bodybuilding stars

Many aspiring athletes want to look like bodybuilding stars, but they are greatly mistaken in the fact that they believe that the stars trained exclusively in the gym and without any drugs.

  • But this was the seventies and then they took kilograms of this chemistry, which made them so sick. Many athletes and stars admitted that they took drugs. Those who did not confess died quietly from various diseases, from the chemicals they took. Because their organs have greatly enlarged.

There are also jocks who do not take steroids, but gain weight naturally . Photos of jocks without steroids can be viewed on the Internet on sports websites. Of course, the effect is not so strong, but still noticeable. Although, photos of jocks without steroids are also popular. The main thing is the goal and desire and everything will work out.

Mustafa Ismail

0
Source:

It seems that we finally have a happy story - there is success here. Yes! Mustafa Ismail claims that he has never dabbled in steroids, synthol or other types of injections that are so popular among bodybuilders. That is, according to him, his massive biceps are completely natural. Where Ismail went too far was that he focused solely on his biceps. The rest of his body is quite fit, but not too muscular, completely disproportionate to his gigantic arms, which creates a rather ugly silhouette. Apparently his protein diet created those 31-inch arms (78.7 cm!!!). He claims that he cannot buy shirts; he has to have them made to order. We all know those guys who go to the gym and only focus on their upper body. They have large arms, powerful chests and skinny legs. “Monday, Wednesday and Friday – I shake my arms!” What about a leg day? “There’s no time on your feet, dude!” - this is how they usually answer. Take time for your feet, we beg you. You don't want to look as weird as Ismail.

Psychological dependence

After taking the drugs, you may remain mentally dependent. Many people just want to try a small course so as not to harm their health in any way. But after they have completed the course and received results from it, they want more, they cannot stop. The problem is that after you quickly gain muscle mass, it will disappear in the same amount of time if you do not take the drug.

Which causes many people to fall into deep depression. And to get out of depression they have to take medications again. And this shows that you take the course again and again. These drugs are a drug that is difficult to quit after the first time of use. And the results from the drugs only last as long as you take the drug.

Bertil Fox

0
Source:

Flex magazine wrote in the early 1980s: “Nobody trains like this guy, not even Arnie.” He was called "mad" and "cruel." “Rabies” led Bertil Fox, a black bodybuilder and native of the Caribbean, to a three-time victory in the English Mr. Universe contest. It was also the reason for his arrival in America: in 1981, the boy who trained in the gym every day until he fainted was noticed by Joe Weider, the godfather of bodybuilding. But it was rabies and an explosive temper that ultimately ruined Fox’s life. On August 30, 1997, police discovered the bodies of 20-year-old Lejoka Brown, a local beauty queen, and her mother, 36-year-old Violet Brown, in a mansion on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts. Both women were shot. The next day, 46-year-old bodybuilder Bertie Box was detained on suspicion of murder, and two days later he confessed. In May 1998, Bertil Fox was sentenced to death by hanging. The sentence was later commuted to life imprisonment. This bodybuilder is still serving his time in prison.

Sally McNeil

What happens when two grunts fall in love, get into bodybuilding, and start taking steroids together? In Sally's case, not only did she kill her husband, but she has a long history of violence allegedly related to her career and steroid use. On February 14, 1995, Sally shot her husband twice with a shotgun. In court, she said this in her own defense: “I defended myself because my husband beat me and forced me to commit sodomy. He was constantly on steroids, and it made him steroid-fueled." “Steroid rage” is commonly referred to as outbursts of aggression after taking illegal anabolic drugs. This term is not medical, but rather amateur, since the phenomenon itself is a controversial fact. The court heard that Sally herself was prone to outbursts of rage. She was engaged in bodybuilding with her husband. One day during a competition, she jumped off the platform and attacked a woman in the crowd of spectators, mistaking her for Ray's lover. They may have used steroid drugs together and injected them into each other.

Gary Haiming

Bodybuilders push their bodies to the limit, and in many cases, even push the limits of the human body. Even when drugs or steroids are not involved, the bodybuilder places an impossible strain on the heart and other organs. Their diet is also extreme, often too high in protein and low in other nutrients that the body requires. The essence of bodybuilding, along with some forms of art, is a huge amount of work, and all in order to be in the spotlight for only a short moment. While preparing to go on stage, horrific things happen behind the scenes. Australian bodybuilder Gary Hyming was a sad example of the risks this beautiful sport poses. Gary suffered the worst fate of a bodybuilder - he died right on stage. Hyming was competing in an IFBB top-level competition in Victoria when he suffered a heart attack and collapsed on stage during his exhibition performance. What's even more shocking is that after his body was taken away, the show went on! It's probably not very respectful to him.

Gregg Plitt

0
Source:

As a graduate of the US Military Academy, Plitt used a special type of training, thanks to which he managed to gain “star” fame. After serving in the army for 5 years, he soon became the owner of a personal training certificate and began working as an instructor in Los Angeles. He was a fitness enthusiast and used the MFT 28 training program in his work as a personal trainer. He could be seen on the covers of fashion magazines every now and then. His appearance and proportions allowed him to appear in advertising, and in 2008 he became one of the participants in the BravoTV community reality show called “Train Up.” He had nothing to do with drugs and steroids (well, he wasn't noticed, anyway) and guarded his heart (well, one way or another). And he didn’t seem to be an idiot... but his life was cut short on January 17, 2020. Plitt was hit by a train in the town of Burbank, California. According to media reports, the bodybuilder ran along the railroad tracks in an attempt to outrun a moving train to prove the effectiveness of the energy drink he had taken. Plitt was only 37 years old.

Muhammad "Momo" Benaziza

0
Source:

As a footballer in his youth, Benaziza began training his body and eventually won a bodybuilding competition in Spain. He is a professional French bodybuilder of Algerian descent. He continued training and even won the Night of Champions in 1990, given his absolute dominance and superiority, he was given the title of "giant killer". In 1992, Benaziza participated in the Mr. Olympia championship, where he received fifth place. Shortly after this competition, he was found dead in his hotel room. There are many versions of the causes of his death: hereditary (genetically transmitted) blood disease (the official version supported by the IFBB), overdose or misuse of diuretics, insulin shock, heart disease provoked by anabolic steroids, etc. An autopsy showed signs of severe dehydration and heart failure, so most likely his death at 33 was due to a vigorous cocktail that included diuretics. Before the show started (at the beginning of the year), Benaziza made a statement that American bodybuilders are all “women.” He named them that because of their widespread refusal to use steroids.

Dillet was in a car accident

Paul Dillet then and now

American Paul Dillett, nicknamed Frankenstein, won the “Night of Champions” in 1999. In the world of bodybuilding, he is known for his extravagant approach to training. Paul lifted weights in a state of deep hypnosis, put himself into a state of passion, and shocked himself with high voltage currents. In general, the people were amused.

He ended his career after being unable to recover from a car accident. He survived divorce and bankruptcy and grew a beer belly. Life has improved, but the guy is now unrecognizable.

What’s interesting is that even after ceasing to be a mountain of muscles, all these former jocks have retained their excellent appearance and only look weak compared to the current Mr. Olympia. Even Dilett.

Aziz "Zizz" Shavershyan

0
Source:

This is a mysterious story because it is not known exactly what went wrong. Aziz was born in Moscow in 1988, was thin and homely. A little later, he and his family moved to Australia and then seriously decided to become an athlete. Instead of routinely working hard with heavy weights in the gym and standard weight gain, Shavershyan became fascinated by the idea of “aestheticism.” This approach differed from the standards of classical bodybuilding; it focused on the development of external data, paying special attention to the relief and definition of muscles. Shavershyan managed to turn his body into a picture from the cover of a glossy magazine over 4 years of training. Aziz began posting his videos on YouTube and bodybuilding websites. He gained worldwide recognition by participating in the National Road Trip series, earning him the title of “the epitome of perfection.” And so, at the very apogee of his fame, Shavershyan was found dead in one of the saunas in Bangkok. The cause of death was a heart attack. His death shocked his fans and influenced the spread of all kinds of rumors and speculation about steroid addiction. The wave of speculation about his death did not subside for a long time, and many still suspect that drugs were involved.

Number of exercises per workout for a straight person

In my understanding, decent people do not do less than 5 sets per exercise. 3 approaches just develop the body.

Typically people do 25-30 sets per workout.

Hence the simple conclusion: a natural’s training plan consists of a maximum of 5-6 exercises.

Lyle Alzeido

0
Source:

Alzeido was, of course, more of a football player than a bodybuilder. By far, this is one of the biggest names among those who have admitted to using steroids during their careers. Alzado died of brain cancer at the age of 43 in 1992. The former NFL quarterback blamed his illness on his long-term use of steroids. Alzeido played for the Denver Broncos, Cleveland Browns and AL Raiders, was one of the elite offensive linemen in his career and became a successful actor. The 6-foot-1, 230-pound Alzeido played 15 seasons as a defenseman. He was twice included in the list of the best professionals and brought victory in 97 of 196 matches. “I started taking anabolic steroids in 1969 and never stopped. It captured me, attracted me psychologically. Now I'm sick and I'm scared. 90% of the athletes I know take chemistry. We are not born to weigh 140 kg and jump 10 meters. The entire time I was on steroids, I was the best. I became very violent on and off the field. I did things that only crazy people do. Once I was cut off by a car and I terribly beat a man. Now look at me. I have no hair, I shake when I walk, I hold on to someone, it’s hard for me to even think. Last wish? So that no one dies like this." Lyle Alzaido's ticket to the National Football League was steroids. Not a big player in high school, he started experimenting with muscle building on steroids in college and never stopped. It led to a stunning NFL career...and a sad ending.

About weight and repetitions

You can exercise with the same weight and number of repetitions, but there will be no growth. Constantly performing a bench press with 70 kg, the athlete will stop progressing and gaining mass, which can lead to a decrease in strength. Since bodybuilding is primarily bodybuilding, constant growth is necessary.

workout program for naturals
An effective way to shock muscles is flexible nonlinear periodization. This means that the program contains light and hard workouts.

In the first case, these are small weights with a large number of repetitions, in the second, large weights with a small number of repetitions.

You need to look at how you feel. If you feel a strength lift, heavy training is used, if you feel weak, then you should train in a “light” style.

Curt Hennig

0
Source:

Wikipedia says about him: “Curtis Michael Hennig is an American professional wrestler. He gained fame by performing in TNA, AWA, WCW and WWF under the name Mister Perfect. He is the son of famous wrestler Larry "Hatchet" Hennig and the father of WWE star Curtis Axel. In 2007, he was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by Wade Boggs. Died from a cocaine overdose." Many bodybuilders tried to win the fight with their own body, let’s not ask the question - what is the point of all this... considering the sad results. An American professional wrestler who performed under the ring name "Mr.Perfect", he was the winner of many awards, and in 2007 he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. He also earned the nickname "Hawk" and his career was remarkably short. At 32, Henning actually committed suicide. Steroids weren't found, but they were clearly a big part of what ruined his life. Anyone who has seen the movie "The Wrestler" will be able to understand this... Yes, it is a rather depressing story. Maybe bodybuilding really is “not a struggle for everyone.”

Anthony D'Arezzo

0
Source:

D'Arezzo was a wrestling star during his high school years, receiving a wrestling scholarship to Boston University (USA). He was very disciplined from childhood. After graduating from college, D'Arezzo trained hard, bench pressing 535 pounds (240 kg), which led him to first place at the 1992 American Bench Press Championships. He had a series of injuries over the next few years. Shortly after this (in 2002), he was diagnosed with a heart defect and was ordered to stop bodybuilding. Doctors specifically instructed him to stop training and not use steroids. He stopped training for a while, but in 2006 he decided to start working again. He is also taking growth hormones again (via injection). The bodybuilder died in a hotel room... he flew to Pittsburgh for a competition and after weighing in, he headed to the hotel room, where he and his companion began posing. Suddenly he had a heart attack, and the athlete never made it to the show.
