Basic parameters of the mammary glands

The main features that determine the individual shape of a woman’s breasts are the interval between the mammary glands and the direction of the nipples.

The gap between the breasts may vary:

• the breasts are located close to each other, or the interval between them is a minimum distance;

  

• the width of the cleavage, which is located between the right and left breasts, does not exceed 3 cm;
• The mammary glands closely border each other in the upper part of the bust, but diverge in the lower part. In this case, the lower neckline forms a kind of triangle.
• The left and right breasts are placed freely relative to each other, the interval between them is 4 cm.

The final shape of the mammary glands also depends on the direction of the nipples.

What determines the shape of a woman's breasts?

The beautiful shape of a woman's breasts depends on heredity and care. The anatomical structure of the bust, in the absence of pathologies, is the same for all women. A common answer to the question of what determines the shape of a woman’s breasts is the amount of fat deposits (a high proportion of fat deposits creates a full bust). A “frame” of glandular tissue is responsible for support. The final visual component of the bust during its maturation can be influenced by the selection of underwear. Lack of support and constant tone contributes to tissue sagging. The reason is the weakening of the “framework” of the glandular component. Bust Measurement Options:

Formula for ideal female breasts

Speaking about what the correct breast shape (how breasts should look correctly), it is extremely difficult to highlight the parameters due to the difference in body constitution. The ideal was proposed by Italian doctors.

Scientists have calculated what an ideal breast shape might look like. To measure, it is proposed to take a triangle as a basis, then draw the following lines:

Key parameters:

Calculating breast size

To independently calculate your breast size, you will need a tailor's centimeter. With its help, fundamental measurements such as breast girth and underbust girth are taken.

The bra increases these parameters, even if its style does not include corrective elements: underwires, cups, foam or gel push-up fillers. Therefore, when purchasing a bra or bra, the chest and back circumference must be measured without clothing or underwear.

If you purchase clothes without the possibility of trying them on, you should calculate the bust size in the everyday underwear for which you purchased the clothes.

Calculation scheme:

1. The tailor's centimeter is held in an exclusively horizontal position parallel to the chest, applied closely to its most protruding points (most often at the level of the nipples), and the circumference is measured.

   

2. From the side of the back, the measuring tape should pass strictly at the same height as from the side of the mammary glands.
3. The circumference of the back under the chest is measured in accordance with the above rules, but the measuring tape is applied to the lower part of the bust - exactly at the point where the bra belt is usually located, covering the chest and back.

Based on the results obtained, the size of the mammary glands is calculated using the formula: the value of the chest circumference minus the value of the circumference under the chest.

For example, the bust girth is 90 cm, and the second main value is 75. When subtracting the smaller number from the larger number, the figure is 15. The final value, as well as the chest girth and back girth indicators, allow you to determine the bust size using the table in alphabetic or numerical designation.

Risk factors

There are risk factors for developing breast cancer. Here are the most basic ones.

1. Age . The older the woman, the higher the risks. But I would like to draw attention to the fact that, despite this, cancer can also occur in young women.
2. Heredity. Having close relatives with breast cancer increases the risk several times. But the absence of a family history is not a guarantee that the disease will not develop.
3. Lack of pregnancy and lactation. This factor may influence the risk of developing cancer.
4. Mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes significantly increase the risk of developing cancer. But there is no need to rush to take this test. Before undergoing any genetic test, it is important to answer the question: “What do we want to get in the end and what will knowledge about a specific mutation give us?” The presence of mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes is not a diagnosis. It does not mean that there is a 100% probability that an oncological process will develop.

When cancer is detected at an early stage, in most cases (90%) it is possible to achieve stable remission, thereby prolonging life. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly conduct breast self-examination and undergo screening examinations.

Despite the fact that self-examination of the mammary glands is not one of the main diagnostic methods, in some cases cancer can be detected with its help. Therefore, every woman should conduct a self-examination once a month and know how to check her breasts for lumps, tumors and other changes.
