So, the size and shape of the buttocks can say a lot about the general condition of a person. It is believed that storing fat on the body is unhealthy, but this is not true for all areas of the body.

Researchers unanimously say that fat in the abdomen and other places is much more dangerous than the same amount of fat on the hips and buttocks.

According to experts, obesity is a growing problem worldwide due to unhealthy diet and lack of physical activity. Numerous studies show that you may actually be healthier if your fat is more distributed in your lower body rather than your upper body.

Hottentots

All men have long noticed that some women of African descent have more developed gluteal muscles than European women of any nationality. This trait is very ancient from an evolutionary point of view. Professor Alik Huseynov from the Anthropological Institute and Museum in Zurich, Switzerland, based on his discoveries, believes that all women who lived in the Upper Paleolithic era in Europe had such butts. Just a few years ago, ceramic figurines and colored rock paintings depicting priestesses of local tribes were found in caves in southern France and Austria, at excavated sites of ancient people. These women are presented with huge buttocks, located at an angle of 90 degrees relative to their backs. Moreover, the priestesses’ skin color is not black or white, but rather yellow, close to the shade of withered autumn foliage. It can be assumed that over tens of thousands of years the color scheme of rock paintings and ancient ceramics faded or changed in some other way, but Professor Khuseynov does not think so. He points out the exact similarity of the depicted priestesses with women of some modern South African peoples, for example, the Hottentots. This tribe still inhabits the English colony of the Cape of Good Hope, and this nation received its name back in the 18th century from Dutch settlers. The origin of the Hottentots is unknown, but their type is a combination of the characteristics of the black and yellow races, which is why, despite obvious Negroid differences on their faces, they have yellowish-red-brown skin. But the Hottentots also have other incredible features - an original language with strange, clicking sounds (which, according to some ethnographers, was characteristic of Neanderthals) and incredible steatopygia in women, that is, the presence of giant gluteal muscles and, in this case, located relative to the back just at an angle of 90 degrees. Professor Huseynov suggests that for some biological reasons, the Hottentots in the extreme south of Africa survived, while in Europe, millennia of evolution transformed the same type of people into the modern European species.

What determines the shape of the butt

It has also been noted that those with slightly larger than normal buttocks may have greater intelligence.

What is this connected with?

The results showed that those with curvy buttocks had lower cholesterol levels. And, most likely, in such women, the body more actively produces hormones for sugar metabolism.

Having a voluminous buttock implies an excess of Omega-3 fats, which have been proven to catalyze brain development.

In other words, a large fifth point is associated with higher levels of Omega-3. Omega-3s are known to promote brain health.

Thus, the benefits of curvy buttocks are obvious from a health point of view.

So what does your butt say about you and your health?

Scientists have agreed which female buttocks are considered ideal

Assessing attractiveness comes down to simple calculations.
Assessing attractiveness comes down to simple calculations.

The formula for ideal female buttocks was recently published in the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. It is simple to the point of amazement: W/H = 0.7 - where W is the waist circumference, and H is the circumference of the hips, that is, these same buttocks. 0.7 is the ideal waist to hip ratio. A higher value indicates that either the waist is too thick or the buttocks are too small. The smaller one is that the buttocks are large.

Let's measure, divide and draw a conclusion.
Let's measure, divide and draw a conclusion.

Of course, everyone evaluates women's buttocks at their own discretion. Some people may like just those that are twice the size of their waist. And some are attracted to thin figures, almost devoid of waists - like some fashion models, who are affectionately called “hangers”.

Scientists identified the average value - a kind of optimum that suited the majority of study participants. And almost 600 plastic surgeons from 40 countries and more than 400 ordinary citizens were involved in them. They were interviewed and asked to evaluate certain female figures. 0.7 was considered ideal by a majority of votes. By the way, Sophia Loren, Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor were ideal in this sense.

Citizens who follow the achievements of scientists in the knowledge of female buttocks - in their aesthetic perception - will object: what, exactly, is the news? After all, for 10 years now, no less, these same 0.7 have been considered a kind of standard. Professor Devendra Singha from the University of Texas began to defend this proportion after analyzing world literature over several centuries - 345 thousand works by different authors. The scientist was the first to come to the conclusion that what is most important for men is not the absolute size of women’s buttocks, but the relative size - that is, the ratio of waist to hips. As it soon became clear when assessing it, the brain reacts much more actively even than to any other individual part of the body. Even on the face.

Delving deeper into the problem, the professor recruited several dozen volunteers, sat them down at computers and gave them the opportunity to “tweak” the female figures appearing on the monitor to the most attractive from their point of view. Relatively thin waists predominated in almost all of the "final" designs. On average, their size was approximately 70 percent of the width of the hips and 75 percent of the chest volume.

After Singh, several other scientists obtained similar results. The last one was Dr. Barnaby Dixon from New Zealand. His volunteers also assessed women's figures with varying waist-to-hip ratios and “tweaked” them to the most attractive look, reducing their waists or enlarging their buttocks.

The achievements of their colleagues did not bother the scientists, who recently again received the same notorious 0.7. On the contrary, they were delighted. And they suggested that this value be considered the final and most correct, since it does not change in all studies. Colleagues naturally agreed.

Model Hunter McGrady: Even plus-size women can be beautiful if they have the right proportions.

Our Anfisa Chekhova is no worse: because she also has 0.7.

“The ratio of waist to hip volume, equal to 0.7, indicates that a woman is not only beautiful, but physically best suited for childbearing,” scientists summarize the scientific basis. In their opinion, this is why at all times and in all cultures the combination of buttocks and waist has invariably been considered a measure of female beauty.

It’s interesting, but W/H is a universal ratio. Women can be overweight but look proportional and attractive if their ratio is close to 0.7. For example, the currently fashionable model Hunter McGrady, a charming chubby, has such a W/H. 0.7 each for the Three Graces by Rubens. Pardon the pathos, but the wind of time does not sway women’s buttocks. Centuries fly by, but the ideal proportions, from the point of view of men, do not change.

It's hard to believe, but each of Rubens' three graces has 0.7. Apparently he knew a lot about female beauty.

REQUIRED ADDITION

Looking at the profile

How close to the ideal ratio of waist circumference to hip circumference is clearly visible from the front. Nevertheless, some scientists believe that to complete the impression it is worth looking at the woman in profile. This will allow you to evaluate the convexity of her buttocks.

And there is a formula for assessing convexity.

Photo: Dmitry POLUKHIN

To evaluate, you need to feel the joint on the side of the thigh - its middle will be point A. Next, you need to determine the distance from this point (A) to the most distant one on the butt (C). Then you need to determine the distance from point A to the front surface of the thigh (See Diagram) - that is, to point B, which lies on the same horizontal line as points A and C. Finally, we determine what AC/AB is equal to. The ideal ratio is 2. If it is much less, the butt is flat. If it is much more, then the bend is excessive. Which, by the way, is by no means a tragedy. As is the case when W/H is about 0.5 or less. Take Kim Kardashian, for example, her face and profile are too much. And many people like it. And Kim herself too.

Kim Kardashian doesn't fit into formulas.

Brief instructions for use

Dr. Kerry Johnson from New York University and Dr. Louis Tassinari from the University of Texas assure: hourglass ladies - those with W/H equal to 0.7 or less, can increase the “striking” effect, and those with not the thinnest waists - compensate for your shortcomings. All it takes is a small trick that anyone can master.

“The main thing is to show yourself,” the scientists say and explain that the “figure” should make smooth movements with the hips. That is, wag them with the maximum possible amplitude.

The experimenters asked subjects to rate the attractiveness of walking women whose animated images were shown to them. And they showed only images of shadows - silhouettes. It turned out that the highest marks were given to figures that swayed their hips intensely. And the volunteers did not consider the same ones, but “modest” in their gait, to be charming.

Did you know that a woman's buttocks, among other things, should be 45.5 degrees? Read about how to measure them and what the point is in this.

A set of exercises for the buttocks[edit | edit code]

  • Romanian deadlift 5x10,8,6,6,6 ( alternative:
    lunges)
  • Single leg press 3x10
  • Hyperextensions 3x10
  • Pelvic lift 3x15,12,10
  • Leg abduction 3x15,12,10

Romanian deadlift with dumbbells[edit | edit code]

Romanian deadlift with dumbbells
START:

Stand up straight, holding dumbbells straight in front of you.

PERFORMANCE:

Keeping your back straight, slowly tilt your body until it is parallel to the floor. From the bottom position, straighten your body with a powerful isolated force from your hamstrings and glutes. While standing, tighten your buttocks statically. The main condition for high impact of the exercise is a straight back. If you, on the contrary, round your back, the load will shift to the spinal extensor muscles.

NOTE:

To enhance the effect of deadlifts on the buttocks, it is recommended to straighten your knees “locked” and keep your legs straight throughout the entire set. However, this technique forces a sharp reduction in the amount of working weight. Maintain a slight bend in your knees and focus on putting as much stress on your glutes as possible.

Single leg press[edit | edit code]

Single Leg Press
START:

Get into a lying position on a leg press machine. Place one foot on the surface of the moving platform. Place your other foot on the floor.

PERFORMANCE:

Take the weight of the platform onto your working leg. Bend your knee and lower it down. Using a strong, controlled force, push the platform up. Do all repetitions with one leg, then switch working legs.

NOTE:

Place the foot of your working leg closer to the top edge of the moving platform. This will increase the load on the muscle.

Back hyperextension[edit | edit code]

Back hyperextension
START:

Take the position of resting your hips on the support pad of the exercise machine. Cross your arms over your chest. Slowly bend at the waist and lower your head towards the floor.

PERFORMANCE:

Keeping your back straight, use a slow and controlled force from your buttocks and hamstrings to straighten your body “in line” with your legs. Without pausing, lower yourself to the starting position. Keep your knees slightly bent throughout the set.

NOTE:

The lower the hip pad is, the greater the load on your buttocks. Conversely, the high position of the pillow, when its upper edge is at the waistline, transfers a significant part of the load to the lower back muscles. If you want to use the gluteal muscles, then you need to keep your back round in both phases of flexion and extension, this way the gluteal muscles are activated best.

Pelvic lift[edit | edit code]

Pelvic lift
START:

Place two benches parallel at a distance slightly less than your height. Take the position of the support on the bench, as in the photo. Place your hands behind your head. Relax your body muscle tone and lower your pelvis low to the floor.

PERFORMANCE:

With a powerful effort, lift your pelvis as high as possible. At the top point, additionally tighten your buttocks statically for a couple of seconds.

NOTE:

To prevent the bench that serves as a footrest from tipping over, move it against the wall.

Taking the leg back[edit | edit code]

Taking the leg back
START:

Attach a soft handle to the end of the pulley cable. Place the foot of one foot into the handle. Lower yourself into a squat and assume a straight arms position with your head facing the block.

PERFORMANCE:

Slowly straighten the knee of your working leg and move your foot back and up as far as possible. Slowly and in a controlled manner return to the starting position.

NOTE:

Women can perform this exercise with a shock absorber.
